Find Out What's Hiding in the' Gluten-Free' Products You Bought? it Really?

There are thousands of people now following  'gluten-free' diets so this is an important blog.  I just read an article on this issue and found two items at the store I was going to buy that were labeled improperly.  The problem is that companies are putting this label on products that contain wheat and other ingredients that are not allowed.

Most of us are in a hurry when shopping.  You are looking at price, as well as, nutritional value and contents while on a mad late night shopping trip.  You would hope that when it states 'gluten-free' that you could count on that, but not so.  More and more products are slipping through the system misbranded.

Gluten-Free is popular along with organic so putting those words on the label gets the company more profit. When caught these companies will receive hefty fines for their deceiving products but they have to be caught first.  The FDA does not have enough man power and resources to catch all these misbranded products reaching the shelves of supermarkets. This is happening with products produced both in the USA and from foreign companies.

What can you as a consumer do to protect yourself?

Read labels carefully on every product you buy!  Foods to look for that contain gluten.

The following is a partial list the foods to buy and ones to avoid. To find out all the foods that are 'gluten-free' or contain gluten, go to this in-depth article that lists all of the foods for every food group. Gluten is hidden in so much of the processed foods that are bought by the typical family.  This makes shopping a family affair to do it right.

Foods that contain gluten: Barley malt or barley malt extract; vinegar; soy sauce that is wheat based; rye; barley; Triticale; spelt; and couscous. You would be surprised to see how many products are misbranded.  Some products may be processed in the same area as wheat so there can be gluten contamination.

It is lawful for food to contain under 20 PPM of gluten in food. That is what is allowed by the label standards.

“[t]he goal of manufacturing any food labeled gluten-free should be for the food not to contain any gluten or to contain the lowest amount possible that is less than 20 ppm gluten.”

To Check Closely: Canned fruits and vegetables may contain sauces containing gluten; sauces may contain gluten; pre-chopped vegetables and fruits may contain gluten depending on where they were processed.  Dried fruit and vegetables may or may not contain gluten.

Foods Naturally  'Guten-Free'

Gluten-Free:  All fresh fruits and vegetables, oats, arrowroot, teff, amaranth, millet, tapioca, sorghum, buckwheat, wild rice, brown rice, and quinoa. Frozen vegetables are usually free of gluten. Vegetables or fruits canned with natural juice or water should be fine in most cases.

#2. Make a safe list of the products you are buying most often listing the brand name, name of the product, ounces or pounds, where you bought it and the price you paid. This will save you time and money when buying these items. It is hard to remember where you bought something and for what price. Carry this list or put it in your phone to take with you while shopping.

#3. Involve your children to help you.  Teach them about labels and have them help you check the products as you go.  This will enhance their reading skills and their food selection skills. Give them training on why you are buying these foods and the impact on your digestion and health if you don't . Make it as simple or more detailed depending on the age of the child. Explaining can be as simple as this makes moms stomach hurt or will make your stomach hurt if we buy this food.

#4.  When you find products misbranded on the shelf, jot them down in your phone and report them to the agencies below: and to the FDA Consumer Complaint Coordinator for the state in which the food was purchased or

Call the USDA at 888-674-6854 to report misbranded products.

Learn How Our Food is Unsafe and Compromised Before the Shutdown! Facts You May Not Know.

This important article will demonstrate why I grow my own gotu kola above in the middle of winter in our back room rather than buy it unless I have no choice. Why we went organic certified. The reasons I am growing lettuce and baby greens in our basement right now. In the Spring I will plant a  garden once more.

The government shutdown is still on and that is beginning to impact all of us in one way or another. One area that it is now impacting is the food we feed ourselves and our family. This impact only makes the food safety situation worse but..............................................

What you don't realize is your food wasn't safe before the current political shutdown situation.

Nationwide, the FDA said that last year it rejected nearly 16,000 food-related shipments out of more than 10 million that arrived in more than 320 ports. This number hits home when it is stated that only 2 percent of our food gets inspected without the shutdown!

2% means 98% of our food did not get inspected.

These rejected shipments were contaminated with filth, pesticides, drug residue or traces of salmonella, according to a News21 analysis of the FDA's database of import refusals. Some of the imports contained unsafe color additives or were mislabeled. And some were even poisonous. I learned that years ago when importing certified organic Moringa leaf powder. That is why I stopped selling Moringa at the time. I was not totally convinced on its safety. Read the articles here. They apply to all food imported into the US and food produced in our own country as well. These are articles published on the issue.

How are our food shipments inspected?

"Which shipments get inspected is increasingly determined by a new computer system called PREDICT, or Predictive Risk-based Evaluation for Dynamic Import Compliance Targeting, that is now used at 70 percent of U.S. import operations at land, sea and air ports. It analyzes information such as a manufacturer’s history with the agency, lab test results and even current weather patterns, assigning a risk-based score to each shipment to direct investigators toward the riskiest ones.  "

How many of these shipments get through under the computer radar of these tests?

Some incoming imported food uses inspectors who personally inspect the food visually and by smell.  If that fails, they flag it for testing.

"Steve Angold works out of a narrow lab at the FDA’s new $40 million testing facility in Irvine, Calif. He is one of about 25 FDA specialists across the country who rely on their senses of sight, touch, taste and smell to detect decomposition or filth in food products."

Contamination often is odorless and tasteless until you get sick and begin throwing up. So then realize that a whole lot of bad food passes initial inspections.

What if his sense of smell is off that day or on days his sense of smell is off due to a cold he caught? With 25 inspectors only across the whole US, how much can they really inspect? How much doesn't get caught?

Since inspections only reach 2% of the imported food, how many compromised shipments got through? That is the reality.

The majority of you reading this blog, did not realize, even without the shutdown, our food is at risk every day. I hope this blog is getting you concerned and mad!

Why are greens and produce is especially at such risk every day?  Any food going through processing can be compromised from how it is grown, to when it is picked, how it is picked, how and through what process it is sorted, washed, dried, packaged, and stored. All sorts of chemicals to kill weeds and germs are sprayed on produce before it reaches maturity. If they are not cleaned properly, they will still contain those chemicals on the skin of the produce or in the leaves. Any contamination occurring in these steps makes a good food, one that can make you sick. These steps and how they are accomplished determine whether a food still contains valuable nutrients or if it empty and devoid of its nutrition. In a company who processes many thousands of pounds of produce or grain, who employs thousands of workers both permanent and temporary, how often do you think that breaches in system fail in the production of your food?  Often and most of it is NOT when the inspectors are there in the room.

Sanitation or lack of it is a HUGE risk factor in how safe our food is everyday!

Workers pick the greens from the field whether it be in the US or in other foreign countries.  Workers move from farm to farm depending on the work. Some workers are employed permanently but most move around to where they are needed. They come from many different countries with some being legal and many not. They live in conditions that are dire at times. Housing if provided on the farm is far from the cleanest. Workers come and go with health conditions that are influenced by poverty and working with chemicals sprayed on the plants every day of their lives.

How healthy were the workers who picked your greens?

Here is the US we have cleaner water and better conditions but sanitation is a problem with field workers. Do you really think that all workers are tested to make sure they are healthy? If they don't work, they don't get paid. They work sick or well.  They work as long as they can manage to get themselves up to make a wage. How many of the workers who pick our food have TB, hepatitis, or other severe health conditions?

QVC Chocolate and hepatitis infection recall for this week!

For those of you who want an open border without rules and without vetting,  these workers will end up working in the fields that pick and process your food. Since they move around from area to area, under the radar, they are working with health problems that affect the safety of the food you are eating including TB, hepatitis, lung conditions, viral infections, and other diseases where you should not be handling food or food products.

In a 5 thousand acre farm, do you think that workers are going to get the bathroom properly to wash their hands as needed. They pee in the field, then go back to work. Even if an outhouse is provided, there is no proper way to wash their hands.  That food then has to be taken back to the facility where the produce is cleaned and boxed. Those procedures may or may not be performed correctly at all levels or performed 100 percent of the time.  Inspections on the food and facility DO NOT occur every day. Inspections are preformed weekly or monthly except for companies that have been found to be non compliant or who have high risk such as in chicken slaughtering companies. Some companies have their own people inspect the procedures which is dependent on the honesty and integrity of the company and its owners.

Lets look at food that is imported from countries like Mexico, China and India.  Their water, soil, and air is severely polluted in these countries. These countries have workers who are working for pennies just to make a few dollars every month. Many of these farms have polluted water and very little sanitation facilities available period. The Ganges river in India is one of the most polluted rivers in the world with dead bodies of both humans and animals found in it every day. The people wash in the river, wash their clothes in the river, drink the water, and it feeds the crops you are eating. Crops are raised with this water and the people who pick them are using this river to live.

India's holy Ganges River is devastatingly polluted, yet provides drinking water for over 400 million people — here's what it looks like

" These study results showed that meat sold in typical Mexican grocery stores had equivalent or higher levels of salmonella contamination than was found in local animal intestine fecal samples. Detailed analyses of the salmonella genotypes pointed to butchering practices as the most likely source of the contamination."

Past NIH tests of fecal coliform contamination of commercial fruits and veg, in Mexico City consistently found high levels of salmonella in almost all samples, due to the use of “organic” (fecal) fertilizers and contaminated irrigation water.

Many of our fruits and vegetables found in all our supermarkets come from Mexico! Remember only 2 percent of the food gets inspected of the billions of pounds of food that flows into our country.

Chemical Contamination on our foods grown in the US and other countries is being stuffed down our throats without our knowledge. We are being lied to about the safety of these chemicals, the main one being roundup or glyphosate.

Glyphosate or roundup contamination which is used both to kill weeds and also used on almost every grain crop to  dry out the grains before harvest.  Spraying the grain with glyphosate allows it to be processed for market more quickly. Spraying rhe grain with roundup allows them to market two crops each season rather than one. This process is used on most grains other than organic.

Does that chemical end up in the end product? YES

"Aug. 15, 2018 -- Lab tests of cereals and snack bars made with oats found that many are tainted with the weedkiller glyphosate. Glyphosate is the active ingredient in the widely used herbicide Roundup, which has been linked to cancer.

The tests were commissioned by the nonprofit Environmental Working Group after internal FDA emails surfaced last year showing chemists at the agency were testing wheat, corn, and oat foods for glyphosate and had found “a fair amount in all of them,” but had not yet released those results to the public. The emails were obtained by investigative journalists working for the nonprofit U.S. Right to Know.

Out of 61 food samples tested, 48 had some glyphosate in them. The most heavily contaminated were made with conventionally grown -- as opposed to organically grown -- oats."

When food has been tested by independent, unbiased labs on fruits and vegetables such as apples, celery, peppers, lettuce, tomatoes, and grapes, it has been found that 80 percent of it contains residues of roundup and glyphosate on the produce. Some samples have the residue of as many as 10 different chemicals still on the produce. If it comes from a foreign country, as much of it does, that percentage is worse.

Again, this is so important that even without the shutdown where 41% of their inspectors have been sent home, only 2 percent of our food gets inspected because of a shortage of FDA inspectors to the amount of food being imported. How often if you read labels do you see manufactured in the USA.

The majority of our fish comes from China where they feed the fish chicken poop and yes they do. That is why we buy very little fish even though it should be good for you.  The way it is raised in China is stomach sickening. Here are some facts that are mind boggling.

Just in Los Angeles, there are 24 ports of entry into the US food chain from countries such as Cambodia, China, the Philippines, fish from many different countries, Mexico and Honduras. Most of our food is not from the US but from the world.

Even if the food is grown and packaged in the US, there is a lack of proper oversight due to a lack of inspectors and at times the job they do being so stressed for time. There have been countless recalls on ice cream, lettuce, greens of all kinds, and even cereal.

Make sure this one fact sticks after reading this blog. That one fact is that only a small percentage of our food including meat, fish, eggs, everything in your salad, and so much more are subject to inspections as they flow in from China, Mexico, and other countries.

Glutten Free and GMO free does not do it folks! Its just a start.

So to those of you who are concerned about the shutdown, you should be angered at the state of our food safety under normal conditions. You should look at your food and be concerned every day.  That is why you need to buy organic, not just GMO free. Glutten free is nearly not as serious as the contamination and adulteration of your food you eat every day. Eating glutten free does not save you from glyphosate or from the contamination of our food supply.

What can you do?  Eat local and organic, ask questions to your local grower, scrub them with baking soda which will clean off 96% of the toxic chemicals found on your produce and fruits.  This one question above would take several blogs in itself so I will end this blog for today.

Grow your own greens in pots if you live in an apartment. You can grow greens no matter where you live with some creativity such as a patio or spare room. You just need to be motivated. Growing your own is cheaper than buying organic certified and you know you washed your hands. You know you are well and free of disease. You know you did not use human fecal fertilizer.  It is up to you to stop burying your heads in the sand and realize what you need to do personally to have better quality food in your life.

During this shutdown, it is advised that you avoid buying fresh greens, hamburger, fresh fish and other foods that have high rates of contamination during processing. In this case, canned may be the best idea or frozen. Use up the food in your freezer and in your pantry. Get creative at this point until the shutdown ends.

Investigate the links in this blog and research this subject for yourself. The information you discover will keep you up at night and make you sick.  Realize you are being brain washed by the system and the companies who sell products covered in glyphosate and chemicals.

Oncology Nurse Quits After Discovering Nutrition Heals Cancer

I am posting this video and resources because I was so impressed with this information you need to know from someone who worked in the profession. I make no money from sharing this and the resources but I do reap a heart reward from sharing it. Do listen to the video and investigate the resources at the end of this blog from  It might save your life or the life of a loved one.

Why Did this nurse leave her profession in oncology and what she learned?

Today I am sharing this video from on a oncology nurse who quit the profession after 17 years and why she quit. She tells the real story about chemo and radiation therapy and the advances and lack of advances in cancer treatment.  She explains how cancer treatments often kill cancer cells but kill the immune system and the patient as well by cell destruction.

This is one video that you should watch because someone you love and know will die from cancer in your life.  Prevention is something you can start now to help prevent cancer in your life or in the lives of those you love.

I just talked to our next door neighbor today whose husband died recently from lung cancer. I took her down some extra eggs from my chickens, some food, and a hug. They are really hurting. Her husband endured surgery, chemo, and radiation with the doctors giving him great hope for survival. He died quickly not long after the therapies ended. His wife is left living on $700 a month taking care of an adult child with disabilities in a trailer that would be condemned if it were not in an area that looks away from situations like this.  If she had known his outcome in the end, she would have done things differently.  He is buried in her front lawn as a tribute and reminder that thousands of people are dying from cancer despite standard cancer treatment today.

This heart hitting  interview brings up that chemo does not kill circulating cancer cells and other tumor cells that have traveled to other parts of the body.  It does however destroy the immune system which leads to second and third cancers that do kill the patient later.  With chemo the cancer cells adapt to the treatment and become evasive to the treatment.

It brings up that doctors give horrible diet advice and nutritional advice to a patient who has been devastated by cancer and the cancer treatments.  She talks on how cancer patients and cancer treated patients are so nutritionally impacted including scurvy symptoms (Vitamin C deficiency), and other severe nutritional disturbances and deficiencies.  It goes into the value of Vitamin C IV's and how beneficial this can be for cancer and cancer treatment recovery.

Did you know that chemo doctors benefit financially from the drugs they treat you with?

Chemotherapy drugs are purchased wholesale by the doctor and then resold to the patient making a profit. Even most nurses don't know that oncology doctors make money on the drugs they give to the patient. Isn't that a conflict of interest?  They are not allowed to offer alternative therapies without risk of losing their license. They are not allowed to discuss anything with the patients in nutritional or alternative therapies. They are forced into the system even if they don't believe in it.  At best, if they have given up on the patient they will say well do it but I can't approve of it.

Learn from her how the the drug companies along with the FDA and the AMA are in charge of your life and death.   How they manipulate your life with drug ads, drugs, and biased advice.

GcMAF is a vitamin D binding protein that activates macrophages, which are immune cells that recognise, engulf, and destroy foreign matter and produce effector molecules. Cancer cells produce an enzyme called nagalase, which attempts to reduce macrophage activation. GcMAF reduces nagalase and restores the integrity of the immune system allowing it to effectively eliminate cancer and restore homeostatic balance.

Vaccine Bombshell: Leaked Confidential Document Exposes 36 Infants Dead After this Vaccine

I am re-posting this with permission because it is so important for anyone you know who has a new baby. Please share this on Facebook and other social media forums.

Originally published on www.
A confidential GlaxoSmithKline document recently leaked to the press exposed that within a two-year period, a total of 36 infants died after receiving the 6-in-1 vaccine, Infanrix Hexa. [1] According to the website Initiative Citoyenne [2] who reported the news, the 1271 page document revealed that GlaxoSmithKline received a total of 1,742 reports of adverse reactions between October 23, 2009, and October 22, 2011, including 503 serious adverse reactions and 36 deaths. Initiative Citoyenne stated:
It’s not that 14 deaths were recorded by GSK between October 2009 and end in October 2011 as we had originally calculated but 36 (14 from 2010 to 2011 and 22 from 2009 to 2010). In addition to these 36 deaths at least 37 other deaths (sudden death mainly), bringing the total to at least 73 deaths since the launch of the vaccine in 2000, and again, this concerns only the death by sudden death, no further recovery of under-reporting.”
Using the figure of 36 deaths over a two-year period, this averages 1.5 deaths per month, which by anyone’s standard is extremely high. Note that only 1 to 10% of adverse reactions to vaccines are actually reported. Therefore, in reality, the problem could potentially be far more serious and the actual number of fatalities much higher.
The charts show that many of the babies who died passed away within the first few days of receiving the vaccine. [3] A total of three infants were reported to have died within hours of receiving the vaccine. This tragedy is hardly surprising given the vaccine’s ingredients listed on the GSK Infanrix Hexa product information leaflet, which parents are rarely given the chance to read prior to vaccination, including non-infectious substances from tetanus, diphtheria bacteria, purified proteins of pertussis bacteria, the surface protein of the hepatitis B virus (HBsAg, derived from genetically engineered yeast cells) and inactivated poliovirus. [4] Each 0.5mL dose contains:
  • diphtheria toxoid
  • tetanus toxoid
  • pertussis toxoid
  • filamentous haemagglutinin
  • pertactin
  • recombinant HBsAg protein
  • poliovirus Type 1
  • poliovirus Type 2
  • poliovirus Type 3
  • purified capsular polysaccharide of Hib covalently bound to tetanus toxoid
  • aluminium hydroxide
  • aluminium phosphate
  • 2-phenoxyethanol, lactose
  • Medium 199
  • neomycin
  • polymyxin
  • polysorbate 80
  • polysorbate 20
  • sodium chloride
  • water
In an interesting article by Dr. Harold Buttram titled “The Ultimate Gamble: Do Childhood Vaccines Result in Genetic Hybridization from Alien Human and Animal DNA Contents?” he highlighted the problems associated with just two of these ingredients, including aluminum, which is a neurotoxin associated with Alzheimer’s disease and seizures, and formaldehyde, which is a known cancer-causing agent commonly used to embalm corpses. [5]
Dr. Harold Buttram also stated:
It is universally recognized among toxicologists that combinations of toxic chemicals may bring exponential increases in toxicity; that is, two toxic chemicals in combination will bring a ten-fold or even a hundred-fold increase in toxicity.
A classical example of this principle was the Schubert study [21] in which it was found that the amount of lead and the amount of mercury, when each was given separately, would be lethal for one percent of rats tested, would become lethal for one hundred percent of rats tested when combined.
In vaccines this principle would apply at least to mercury and aluminum, both of which are potent neurotoxins.”
Considering this information, is it any wonder that babies are dying after receiving vaccinations containing these ingredients? GlaxoSmithKline may try and hide the facts from us but they cannot hide them forever. Infanrix Hexa should be removed from the market immediately.

Giving Up Overthinking and Excessive Worry for 2019! Why it Is Imperative for Your Health! How To Start!

Achieving vibrant health starts with peacefully balancing the mind, heart and soul. If these are out of balance, your health will suffer no matter how nutritious your diet is and how clean your lifestyle is, though these are important. You must achieve health starting from the inside, the deepest areas of your life.

Stop Worrying!

So easy for others to tell you when life has years in upheaval.  For three years I never knew from one day to the next what my day would be like. That is how it is when you take care of someone who is sick or dying. It may be a child with autism or cancer . It may be a spouse with serious health problems. Your life is so uncertain that it can lead to exaggerated worry and anxiety levels to the point where it hurts your health and mental well being. How can you help your loved ones, if your own health and mental well being fails?

Overthinking and being too serious can be a personality trait you are born with. I remember growing up with a father who didn't work at times and a mom who worked herself into the ground making up for it.  She worked from dawn to bedtime.  She had little time for fun or herself.  I can remember being worried that she would get sick from the hours she put in  and what we would do when my father was not working.  There were older neighbors for whom I loved who I worried about.  I was never a care free kid. I was serious ...too serious. This was before I got out into the real world with being on my own.  For those of us who have a very serious nature, humor and taking time for yourself is something we have to learn. It does not come natural.   This too serious nature is a good trait and a negative one.  You have great work ethics but there is more to life than work!

Humor and laughing is important for health and getting through life with less stress. It takes the edge off our stressful lives.  So its important to understand yourself with your good and negative points. Having a sense of humor may have to be developed when it isn't natural for your personality type. How do you develop a sense of humor? Make friends with those who do or marry someone who can lead you into your less serious side. Make yourself take watch shows that are funny. You may find you really enjoy them once you get over the guilt of doing something fun.  Serious people often feel guilty just messing off. The work ethic is so strong, it just takes over everything. You may have to discover and nurture your less serious side that is hiding in your personality. I don't think I smiled until I was 20 and worked with a morning crew of guys at Alpha Beta Supermarket who teased me until I realized it was fun to tease back.  They taught me how to loosen up. Even after that, I was till too driven and serious often but believed that good comes from every event in our lives. I overcame my tendency to worry during hard times with my faith in God.

I am blessed that I married Marty later in life to balance out my seriousness.  For the years prior to our marriage, I had taken on care-giving. Watching people die is hard on the heart even if they are at peace with it. It is a sobering job though rewarding for the heart.  When we met, I needed a lighter life at that point. I needed to let my heart heal. He has shown me how to nurture my smile over the past 10 years.  He is funny and quirky in his humor. He is and always will be my balance. His love is a huge blessing.

During the time of taking care of his father, I lost my sense of humor completely. At 65, my patience was not at its top level. That was not good. That led to toxic worry that was affecting my sleep and my disposition. My faith in God got pretty tattered as well. We all have gotten to the point of wondering if we can go on and for how long taking care of someone who is seriously ill or dying.  Only caregivers will understand this statement. After his father died, I was still immersed in grief and  worry with all the paperwork and red tape that comes with your loved one dying and being the ones to deal with the medical bills.   Nothing Marty said helped me to sleep at night with all the questions running around in my mind.  This is one of the main issues underlying sleep problems which leads to other problems such as adrenal exhaustion, cortisol imbalance and endocrine problems to name a few.  If you do not stop this process, it destroys your immune system. That is why the death of a spouse often leads to the death of the remaining spouse within hours, days, or months.  How do you stop the process?

I came to a point one day, the load was too heavy to keep going. I came to the realization that life when you get older, has no concrete answers for the remaining years. No matter of worry will give you answers. Even if you are wealthy, that does not secure your life will be without pain or cancer. Your wealth can disappear in weeks. With my independent nature, where I had always felt called to solve the problems, I gave it to God. You can say you have given it to God, you can say you do it but have you really? You have to give up control. You have to trust and really turn over your problems or questions to a higher source. You need to realize that it is critical to your health to do so. I started focusing on Marty and the other people in my life who needed me. Right before Christmas a woman we know lost her husband at 40 from a genetic heart problem. It was a complete shock. In the end, all we have is today, this hour and this minute. All else is undetermined. That last I love you or that last hug could be all there is.

Excessive worry was keeping me from being the best wife I could be and the best friend I could be. It got in the way of enjoying my children and grandchildren. It gets in the way of everything in your life. I have always been the kind of person who believes in the end, things will turn around for the good. Excessive worry can lead you into 'the glass is half empty' thinking.

You have to ask yourself who do you want to be?

A positive person or a negative one?

Is your way of thinking helping you or counterproductive?

If you ask those questions and deal with the answers honestly, you see the path you need to go toward.

When you have done all you can do and there is no way to predict the future events, no matter how dire, give up the worry. It does no good to lose sleep over what you can do nothing about.  It is about giving up control and just letting go.  This is hardest for the independent personalities out there. How well I know that.

If you can worry, YOU can STOP worrying!  Remember the joke where the guy says to the doctor that whenever he moves his arm in a certain way, it hurts. The doctor tells the patient stop doing that and it won't hurt.  We need to Stop our running negative chatter.

You must take back control over your mind and thoughts. It is stopping the 'What If' chatter in your head".   It is putting away, "I should have; I didn't get this done; Why didn't I get that done?" chatter.

Only YOU can do that.  It is within your control and power to stop it.

Once you do that, your sleep will improve and your health problems will even out to a great degree.  It is about giving up your control to a higher source.  You still do all you can each day to make the days count and to solve your problems but if something does not get done on your list, it just is not worth losing sleep over.  The earlier you learn this and do it, the easier your life and load will be.  Think about all that you have come through in your life and you will get through what is coming one way or another. So stop along your day and enjoy what ever pleasure or joy comes into your path.  I would suggest to those reading this to start today. The sooner you start, the more years you will have to enjoy life.  Take this from one who has always had to work at having fun and laughing.

Adopt the stance, no matter how hard the day, " I choose JOY and gratitude"

Do this for yourself today....give up excessive worrying.

How a Simple Man and a Load of Free Mulch Changed Our Heart and View of 2019.

I have always believed that people come into your life for a reason.  Yesterday, a simple man working with a CEMC (electric) work crew gave me a jolt I needed to fire up my enthusiasm for this New Year. The day started with just simple chores. We had been talking how we needed to flag down the crew who have been cleaning up our local roads for some free mulch for our chicken yard that was pure mud with all our rain.

About 8 am I looked out the window and the crew was in front of our house doing their job. I ran out to ask for some free mulch.  The man running the crew had a trimmed white beard,  looking a little like Santa should. His name was James and he looked older than his 57 years.  After awhile we went out to thank him and wish him and his crew a happy New Year.  It was then he began telling us about 2018 and his year.  He lost his mother, his father, his step father and three other relatives last year. He was helping out his uncle right now who was dying from 4th stage lung cancer and another couple of family members with meals while working hard out on our roads. Most of his family had high blood pressure, diabetes, and some cancer they were fighting. His family was being devastated by death and health problems....severe ones. All he wanted for this 2019 was a year without losing any more of his family. He was hurting so deeply from the recent losses. He felt shell shocked still.

We were both taken back  as he told us his story...most of his close family had died within 2 months of each other just before Christmas.  His grief was apparent and raw.  He impressed us both with his integrity and character. His devotion to his family was so beautiful.  He was a good man, you could tell.

They dropped their load eventually of wood chips and went on to another area of the backwoods.  The road crew moved on, but the impression James left us with will last forever.  I went in very sad for him. Then sometime later it hit me just how amazingly, remarkably  blessed we are. I know we are blessed but at times I have not focused on those blessings, as much as I should be. I said to myself and my husband, WOW, we have nothing to whine about. We lost his father last year, but our kids, my sisters, and children are in pretty good health. We are in good health for our age.  We are not fighting much in our health except some aches when we overdo things here on this property.  Our financial situation is so much better than the folks down the road who live in a mobile home that should be condemned. We have so much more than so many.

Sometimes it takes a simple workman on a road crew to  really shock you into viewing your life with the full joy you should.  When I wrote into my gratitude journal last night, there was more enthusiasm. When I did the chores after they left, there was more joy.   We spent the rest of the day carting down mulch to the south forty where the chicken yard is which is hard work. Last night we were both hurting from the hours of work, but I realized at 67 and 72 that we were doing it, so that is a blessing. We can still keep this place going with the work it requires with the  steep terrain. Marty and I are on no medications and we don't need them. We aren't running back and forth to doctors every week. The rate of diabetes and cancer is high in this area. Many smoke here. The opioid addiction rates are super high. Every week we read in the paper about those who have died 20 years younger than we are with cancer. We had not appreciated our good health, with as much enthusiasm as we should have. Last year had dampened my joy and my positive attitude. Grief had colored my view on things. Grief had impacted my attitude toward our blessings. James really brought all of it into perspective.

We have every reason in the world to be joyous.  For us, this year needs to be filled with joy leaving the grief of 2018 behind. His dad was 94, lived his life his way playing golf to the end, and is in a better place now free of leukemia and dementia.  There is a time for everything in life;  sowing, reaping, crying, new life and birth, and praising the good Lord for our blessings.

If you are facing this year after a really hard year .......leave the pain behind. Leave the grief behind. Its time to go into this New Year with courage and joy.  Don't let another day go by.....without joy. We need to turn our outlook to others, not on our own deficiencies.

There is one choice we all have in we view the circumstances we are facing.  We can choose joy despite bad news, government shut downs, and  life that does not go as planned.  We all need to choose joy.

The Main Reason 90% of New Years goals are not achieved.

Its Jan 3rd of a brand new year...2019.  Take a few days to reflect about the past year, what projects you got done, and which ones you didn't and why.  To have a better year you need to think about why or why not your year was great, rotten, or somewhere in between.

Many of us experienced a  transition year where you may have changed jobs, moved, got married, or where someone died.  In our life, his dad died who I was taking care of full time. His father had been right in the middle of everyday since 2004. We never knew a day when there was not something to be solved regarding his dad. Our marriage had been centered around his dad. Our conversations and daily life was around his dad. When he died at the end of April, our whole life changed. As a couple, we had never been just us. It was very strange in many respects. There was a great sadness to get over. Grief is a journey in itself.  There was freedom that was hard to adapt to. We had to revisit us and who we are without being a caregiver. Our life each day was dependent on his dad and health problems. There is a huge adaptation in your lives when someone you are caring for dies.

Transition years have many lessons to learn. Transition years sometimes are just about putting one foot in front of the other and getting through it.  However you experienced 2018, you need to look at it so that you can better change the program for this year.

As you get older, you have less years to achieve those goals. Whatever is on your mind and bucket list, you need to begin steps toward those goals be it a trip or improving health.

The Main Reason 90% of New Years goals are not achieved.

The reason most people do not achieve those goals according to a class I took the past two months is because you don't keep your goals and dreams alive every day in your mind and actions. Your goals remain a thought rather than a vibrant drive with action. A dream needs enthusiasm, lots of it.  It needs action no matter how small to get there. Put up a vision board for the new year with pictures and words that show your goals and dreams for the New Year. Make sure you add dates for accomplishing that goal. Put the vision board on the wall where you can see it. Review in writing every day that dream or goal. This is important to keep it right up front staring you in the face. Why do you want that goal?  How would it change your life or make life better?  How would it add happiness or peace to your life and soul.  You need to keep the why in your heart and mind to get there.

Where are you going? Its time to figure it out! Today!

Take time this week, to renew, refresh, or make a new plan for your life this new year. Try not to make it so complicated that you give up on it before you start. Put your plan down in doable chunks with the most important ones first such as getting back to a healthy diet since most of us ate things during the holidays we should not have. It may be to pay off a bill or spend more time on your health.  Put down steps to start on each goal....small steps at first.  We spent yesterday paying off a medical bill and paying the car registration. We visited my sister and paid the rent. I worked on better organizing the kitchen that needed to be done. None of it was earth shattering but important still. The day was not wasted. Days are just too precious to waste them. None of us know  about the future for sure. What we do have is today to make the most of.  This morning I am writing on this blog. With the holidays and taking a trip to Florida, I got behind on my writing.  When that happens, you must just start in again to get back on tract.

The Blessing Journal

One of the steps is to take time every morning to thank God for all your blessings. Start the day on a positive note dwelling on blessings. It starts your morning right. Blessings are not just big things such as  a promotion but all the little things such as money to pay the bills and rent, a mild winter without ice and snow or receiving a phone call from family. We all have blessings each day, but we tend to focus on the negative and what we didn't get done.  I have a gratitude journal that I write my blessings down in.  Once you see them written down, it sinks in how blessed you are. There are so many people worse off than your situation.

Start with one step today that moves you forward!

Start today with one of the actions I have suggested above.  One step is one step ahead and toward a better year.  That one action will lead to others if done consistently.  Today, take a step no matter how small toward a new you, a new future, a new path, a new only takes one to start the ball rolling.  It is never too late to start and never too late to restart your life.  Today is a huge blessing. You are alive and breathing so that is a good place to begin.

One thing you need to do starting tonight and every night!

Tonight before you go to bed write down the goals you accomplished no matter how mundane such as ironing you got finished or going for a small walk.  Focus on what you got done, not what you didn't.  This is important to moving forward and making 2019 a better year or a continued better new year.

So for all of us...starting this New Year step today and make each blessed day count.
