Capsules or Bulk Moringa? What is the Differences? A Comment about Ziji Products.

Capsules or Bulk Moringa? What is the Differences?

I have taken several calls this week on this subject. Readers seem to be confused on this. If you are buying powdered Moringa leaf powder then it is convenience that dictates if you buy the powdered bulk leaf powder and add it to foods or you take the capsules. It is the same product but a different consistency and form.

Some bulk product is not powdered but more in a rough tea form.  So it depends on the company if it is powdered finely or crumbled leaves. The advertiser should specify that on the product description. You can take the caps, as I do, and dump the capsule contents into your green drink, applesauce, or yogurt.

I do not sell bulk product at this point only the capsules.  I do hope to carry it by the middle of the year. Each product has to have different labels, packaging and product guidelines. Labs require that you order a min order of 1000 bags or bottles of a certain product. First the product is put into the bags or capsules. They must next set up the labels to fit the product shape. Then the packages or bottles have to be sealed with tamper proof lids and seals. All this is done by specific machinery.  It is not cost effective for the lab or the company selling the product to run it all for a small order. Lab tests also have to be performed on the product first before it is packaged. That is not cheap.

My husband works long hours so often I put two to three caps in this lunch bag. He takes Moringa and a vitamin at lunch to help him through the day. There are some people who are really good about using the bulk product in foods but a majority forget to use it or don't have time in the morning. It also depends on how much you use per day. I like the caps because I tend to overdo the bulk. Three caps is a tablespoon so that is easy to remember. So again with our product, the capsules contain only Moringa leaf powder with no additives, no fillers, and only the leaf.

If you have kids, just dump the capsule contents into their yogurt or applesauce. It does not taste bad.  Make a game out of it. You can also just put the caps into applesauce, wait a few minutes until they soften and eat them with the food. That also works. Take a cap and roll it into the middle of a tablespoon of peanut butter. Roll it into a ball then they just chew it down. Since it does not taste bad, it will go down easily.

Some companies offer products that contain a mix of the leaf, pod, or other parts. The most research has been done on the leaves. If you notice on the graphs easily found on the Internet it states that Moringa leaves contain so much calcium etc.

A comment on Ziji products.

I have had several customers call me about Ziji drink packs.  I am told they give you almost instant energy like coffee.  The powder if you take it out of the bag contains white granules. The package does not tell you what is in it. I would bet money that the package contains some form of sugar and perhaps herbs that contain caffeine. If a drink gives you instant energy, it more likely does contain caffeine in some form or another. So if you are thinking that it is just Moringa, you are wrong.

No pure Moringa product is going to make you feel as if you have had a shot of coffee.  Pure Moringa leaves do not contain caffeine.

Pure Moringa feeds the energy system giving you more energy but not like coffee.  I welcome someone in Ziji management to call me or write to me to dispute this comment.  Let them tell all of us what is really in those drink packets. I know their XM3 capsules do contain caffeine.

I have several issues with their products. I don't like to make my customers agree to an expensive auto ship program. It is multilevel and thereby more expensive.

Their products do not tell you completely what is in them. I personally don't buy anything where the label does not specify what different herbs are included and the milligrams of each herb included in each capsule.

I would wager that it is not pure Moringa by any means. So this is my personal view on Ziji products.

I am holding to the purer version of this beautiful, powerful food product. I believe in the long run, the closer we keep to nature and how nature made a product, the better off our health is.

This is the written response from one Ziji respresentative:

"Everything you need to know about any Zija product is found at www.drinklifein.com and click on products.. pamphlets are given out for all items sold by Zija, ingredients are printed on packaging of each product. Please research before you go hating on a product. Its easy to find out what you need to know about Zija and their ALL NATURAL products.

Total Calories 38, Total Carbohydrates 10g, Pure Cane Sugar 4g, Zija Proprietary Mix (Moringa Mix (Leaf Powder, Seed Cake, Fruit Powder, Fruit Juice).

Ingredients: Zija Proprietary Mix, Pure Cane Sugar, Natural Green Tea Concentrate, Natural Desert Tea (Ephedra nevadensis), Natural Caffeine, Trimethyglycine, Ginseng, Garlic, Natural Flavor, Citric Acid, Agar, Fruit Pectin, Acacia. on "

My Comments now:   Their products do contain natural caffeine as I suggested. It is not Moringa powder by itself.

Again if a drink gives you the same feel as a shot of energy drink or coffee .....it has natural caffeine in it.

See the above yellow highlighted ingredients.

Caffeine is caffeine...natural or not. Natural caffeine still stresses the adrenal glands as coffee does. Coffee and black tea are natural products as well.

It still affects the nervous system and the adrenal system in the same way.

It is a way of stimulating the adrenals to work harder when they are tired. There is natural energy and there is stimulated energy.

What Is Ephedra Used for Today?

Although it can still be found in a few over-the-counter drugs for asthma and sinus congestion (in a safer form than the banned dietary supplements), physicians seldom prescribe ephedrine anymore. The problem is that ephedrine mimics the effects of adrenaline and causes symptoms such as rapid heartbeat, high blood pressure, agitation, insomnia, nausea, and loss of appetite. The newer asthma drugs are much safer and easier to tolerate.

You cannot compare the effects of taking straight pure Moringa powder with nothing added  to  products with other herbs and natural caffeine.

Ziji propreitary mix means that you do not know how much of each ingredient is in the packet.  How much ginseng? How much Ephedra? How much Ginseng? How Much garlic? How much green tea?  It does not state that.

You cannot know where the Moringa in the product was grown. Is it bought from India? Is it bought from what country? You don't know.  They buy it from many different sources, because they sell thousands and thousands of products.

I like being able to tell you our product was grown and bought from one farm in Honduras.  That makes me feel good that I can answer that question when you ask.

I am sure Ziji is prepared with quality standards and is safe. That is not my issue with the company. It is that any product offered multi-level is more expensive to the end consumer. The auto ship requirements are high for families.  It is also that people I have talked to don't seem to realize there is caffeine in the products. They then wonder why Moringa powder by itself does not give them the same 'high" as Ziji products.

I believe in the pure form of Moringa powder without added caffeine and other things....as a pure food with supercharged nutrition.

The people who talked to me could not tell me the ingredients on the package they had?  They use the product. Why was that? I asked them to read me the ingredients?  These people called me to ask if Moringa Leaf powder by itself would give them the same energy high as the Ziji product.  No, my product contains no caffeine.

If you want caffeine, I am sure their drinks are healthier for you than other products.  I have not drunk coffee for years...why...it chews up my stomach with pain.  I get bladder burning as well. I drink very little black tea because of the same reason.

I rely on natural energy without caffeine from any source.  I use 4 moringa caps in the morning to get me going or Moringa tea....no added anything.

Live Life Fearlessly in 2013

Happy New Year all!

Now that all the activity of Christmas and New Years has quieted down. .....it's time to think about 2013.  I am not talking about diet but about life.  It seems that some years are just 'get through' years filled with survival and wading through problems ........but what about 2013?

What is your 2013 going to include?

It seems like years just disappear leaving us to wonder at times how it could be 2013.  In the past four years, our life was constantly on the move literally.  This year is the first year in a long time that we don't have to think about moving. I had gotten to the point that seeing a U-Hall gave me nightmares. We have invested enough money in them, to buy stock options. Those moves though, were all apart of a plan to get here to Stagecoach.  It took us from San Diego, CA to Stagecoach, Nevada last year. Some of you may not think that was progress but it was.  How many of you have a house, nice sized for $600 a month with a water bill of $50.00 for 25,000 gallons base rate. We have an acre to work with and a beautiful view from our back slider of the mountains covered over with snow.We have come to a good place in our life. I am so very thankful for all our blessings.

Stagecoach does have its negative points but overall it is beautiful here.  It is a funny thing about negative points. Sometimes it is how we look at them.

I am not a lover of snow. I grew up in Julian, CA where it snowed. I was not impressed growing up. I lived in Denver for a year in lots of snow, and was not impressed. Now we have snow here this year and I have been really grumpy. It is not fun carrying water down to the animals through the snow from the house. I fell a few days ago, and my feet and ankles have been painful, black and blue. The animals still needed fresh water. I have not been a happy camper but I decided to try something. When I was young, I sang all the time. I sang especially when I was upset. I sang until the pain was gone. I always felt better. It has been a few years since I have done that. The other day, I began singing a song while I worked about how I loved the snow. It seemed absurd at first. I kept it up and found that singing this silly song, made it seem less tedious and cold. It lightened my heart and my work. Sometimes we need to change our view. All I know is that singing while I do the chores out in the ice and snow seems easier mentally and physically. You should try it on a chore you dislike. Rather than complaining, find something to enjoy about it. In the old days, when people plowed the fields or worked hard, they sang while they worked. It made the work go more quickly. I can vouch that it does help.  Try it and let me know. The point is that often it is our view that is sour...not the view itself.  The old saying make lemonade out of lemons is very true.

Another point I would like to make is that at times our path, although slow, is moving us forward. It may not seem like it at times, but looking back later, you realize that. It may seem to you like all your steps are backward but it is your view at that time. I can assure you when we moved to Mina in 2010 from San Diego, I though God was punishing us. I could see no value in that move. I cried for two weeks. I asked God what was he doing sending us to Mina with less than 100 people and no trees. My husband kept telling me that it was part of a bigger plan. I chose not to see that for a few weeks. He would tell me to look at the mountains, the colors in the cliffs. I did not want to see them. Later on I raised my eyes to see the beauty in the hills surrounding us.   I began to view the whole move with a kinder heart. It was after we moved here that I saw the reason for our time in Mina.

That move to Mina turned out to be a 'patience path". This is a path God sets you on while getting you ready for the next part of his plan. It may be for a few days, weeks, or years but it is only temporary. It is a step to something better  in your life.  So if you feel last year was a 'patience path' for you, look to 2013 as the next step up  in your life to better things.  Take a step out in faith and give yourself a dream for this year.  Do something that makes you step out of your square, your box...that gives your heart joy. Dare to dream again!

This year I will be turning 62 and I want it to be a special year. I want to think about living life this year fearlessly.

What does that mean?

For me this means writing both here on this blog and through other resources. I want to look at my business, seeing its potential without limits. I want to sing more. For some of us, who are all too serious and practical, we need to dream more  Perhaps for you, my readers, some of you need to dream again...to love again...to live with joy again.   Without dreams, our view is limiting. Our life cannot reach its full potential without dreams. Is there something in your life that you want deeply but are too practical to try? Do you have a voice that is silent within you? Have you stopped singing? Have you given up that hope or dream?

In 2013, strive to live life fearlessly and with joy.  Let the song out of your heart.  I love this next quote and it is so true, "

A Time for Everything

1  There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:

a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,

3  a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,

4  a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,

5  a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

6  a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,

7  a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,

8  a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace."

Let 2013 be the year you dance and sing again! The time for sadness is past.

May God bless you all,
Kate Freer, the herbladyisin
