The Truth About Organic Certified Moringa Oleifera Claims

I am re-posting this blog with new comments  due to increased phone calls on this question. This article applies to all organic certified product. Organic certified does not always mean a better or safer product.  It can be contaminated with filth, dirt, weeds, insects, or mouse parts. It may contain heavy metals unless tested for those.  The product is only as good as the integrity of the company who sells it.  Violations do occur in the night by companies both here and in the US. Who is to know you sprayed your organic tomatoes in the middle of the night?  This does happen and has been proven.

Learning The Hard Way......

I lost money from two different companies my second year in business. We began our business by selling trees in the San Diego, CA area.  We did very well. Since I had customers who wanted the dry product, too, I began investigation. It is difficult investigating companies out of the United States. It was in my attempt to secure high quality organic certified product to sell on my site, that I learned hard lessons. The first company I bought product from, I found out later was using a stolen Organic Certified Certificate. The second company sent me a shipment of contaminated Organic Certified Moringa several years ago.  They are still in business with their organic certificate. I don't sell India Moringa Leaf powder for that reason.  The man selling misrepresented product with a stolen certificate got away with it for several years before getting caught.  The government agents there in India tried to shut him down but he disappeared into the woodwork. They never got him into court. By now, he may be operating another company using the same stolen certificate.  This is the reality of things. I only found out because I never received the product losing over $500 bucks. I learned all of this the hard way...by losing money. I did not sell product until two years later...just this year. I could not find a product that I trusted to sell on my site.  I wanted to be able to answer your questions on the product and the product source.

I sell my own label because I know its source and that it has been tested and bottled by a FDA approved lab for E-Coli and other contamination. Testing  by a US Lab is the only way to know the quality of the product. This is NOT my product I grow at my business. We live in Nevada where the trees must be kept in the house.  The product is grown in Honduras.

Original Blog Below.........

I have written several articles in the past about the problems with product from India, including Organic certified. I will again tell you that organic certified does not mean the product is good or pure.

I had two phone calls on this subject, that the reader thought organic certified from India is dependable product.  I have proof here from my own business experience that this is not true.

Don't take my word, but read the  FDA Detention Form below from my own files on the subject. The detention form below cannot be disputed by anyone...period. A FDA Detention Notice means that your imported product is not allowed to enter the United States. They can stop your order on label violatation, paperwork or importing violations, product contamination.

My detention notice was on label violations, gross product contamination, and advertising violations. Read below how the organic certified product I ordered was contaminated with filth, insect parts, and mouse parts. Again, this was organic certified product.

The FDA detention form below is proof positive that organic certified does not necessarily mean anything about quality.  It can depending on the company involved and their integrity.

There are many companies who have exceptional herbs and products, but the paperwork, money and hassle to get the certified organic paperwork is so much trouble...that it is not worth the trouble.

Really read the statement below.  The truth of this is stated so really let the following paragraph sink in.

So Organic Certified is only as good as the company who maintains those standards for the rest of the year, when there is no one around to make sure they adhere to the standards.

Honesty and integrity are the main difference between good companies and bad, organic certified or not certified. This applies to Moringa Oleifera products, herb products, and supplements.

Again, organic certified does not mean that the product is not contaminated.

Organic certified companies in India are only checked at the time of their initial application and then once a year.   Once a year, I repeat.

A lot can go dirty in a year. There can be thousands of pounds of product sent out, that is not good, but it is not checked.

The FDA does NOT check every imported product.  If the paperwork is fine and in order and the packaging seems in order, they will just pass it through. My order had labels that were not in order, so then they flagged it for intense examination including lab tests on the product. Had the labels been correct, they may have passed it through unchecked.  If they had not checked my imported, I would never have known that it was contaminated. I was under the impression if it was organic certified, that it was great product. Wrong as you can see my my FDA detention notice.   This is organic certified product from India and the company had references.

Please read the highlighted yellow areas including the filth and insect parts found in the products.

( This website was hosted in India where they use herbs and Moringa to prevent disease and health problems. In their website they state health claims. This is a violation in the US. )

The FDA threat against herbalists or anyone speaking out on herbal health:

The form above also demonstrates that if you tell someone what an herb can do for their health, even with double blind studies to back it up, you will get in hot water by the FDA.  Here is this country we are not allowed to tell you how an herb can be used to help health conditions...it is against the FDA law.  There are in many cases, enough research to back up that an herb can help certain health conditions but we are not allowed to tell you that. Many of us risk this everyday to help people anyway.
