I have had several people ask how they can get off the prescription drugs and began using herbs. It is important to read this article carefully before you take steps. Patience is the first step.
#1: Do not stop your medication cold turkey under any circumstances. If you are taking heart medicine, this could bring on an attack. If it is blood pressure medicine, your blood pressure could sky rocket. It if is an antidepressant, you may increase severe mental symptoms that could impact your job, your family, and your life. You must do it in the correct way or Don't do it at all.
So What is the correct way to discontinue your prescription meds?
Ask your personal doctor to help you first. Tell him you are going to do this with his help, or without, so you would prefer his help. He may tell you not to do it, that it is dangerous, that it won't do any good or just refuse to help you. He may help you reluctantly. If he will not help you, seek a holistic doctor in the area to supervise your goal of stopping your medications. There are important reasons to be supervised. When you take herbs to lower blood pressure, you will need less medication. You need to make sure you are taking the right herb for the problem and a large enough dosage to work. It may take several days or weeks to get the right dosage to achieve the effects you are seeking. Moringa or any herb can take from days to months to improve your health such as blood pressure regulation. You did not get this condition in days and your body will not get well by magic. It takes time. That is when patience is needed. Most people want to be well yesterday. If it does not happen that way, they throw in the towel and give up. This is NOT Magic!
Herbs and medications do have interactions which can cause problems. If you are taking blood thinning drugs, and you take herbs too, you may have a severe bleeding problem if you cut yourself. When you take anti-depression medication, you could see the return of severe symptoms resulting from drug withdrawal such as inability to sleep, abnormal thoughts and thought patterns, and any number of abnormal behavior problems. That is why you should do this under supervision. The medicine should be lowered over a few days or weeks. Your response to that lowered medicine should be monitored. Then herbs are added in gradually, to take the place of the medicine. The dose of the herbs may have to increased or lowered depending on your response to the program. You may have to change herbs or the combination of herbs during the program to achieve the correct effects. Every person is different in their response to an herbal program. Some people can see results with less herbs and some need more than the average.
Some factors that influence herbal programs and their success:
Your age, sex, overall health, and mental attitude. Your weight and lifestyle factors such as drinking, smoking, exercise, diet, and what you do for a living affect your ability to get well.
How stressed out are you? Stress makes everything more difficult. The more stressed out you are, the harder it is to achieve health. You need to adopt a program to reduce your stress level along with other negative lifestyle factors. Stress makes it harder to quit negative habits and harder to stay on a healthy program. Stress wipes out your adrenal function, your endocrine system, your hormone system, and your nutrients.
Your genetics is important. If everyone in your family died of a heart attack by 50, you need to really be serious about the program. I knew a family that had that genetics. The man coming to that age was terrified he would die soon. He refused to have a relationship, he knew he was going to die. He did not and lived some 20 years later. Most of his life he put on hold because he was convinced of that death. His quality of life was influenced by his focus on early death.
Bad genetics does not always mean you will get the disease, even though the risks are significantly increased. The focus on death, does not help your mental or physical health and can set the stage for your falling ill to that disease. It is like when you have a bad morning. You can either say to yourself, the rest of the day is going to be fine or you can say this is going to be an awful day. If you say the rest of your day is going to awful, it probably will be. The best thing you can do when your day starts out with problems, is to take a deep breath and start over. This morning is a good example. Our little dog ate something last night, had several accidents on the light colored rug, and had yuk of his bottom. He did not smell great. I put him outside, cleaned the carpet, then did the chores to get my husband off to work. Then I tackled his bottom. After all of that, the rest of the day has been just fine. I did not let it influence my whole day, You must not let ill events if possible influence your whole day. Your genetics is not a death sentence but a gauge to make you more aware of how to prevent that possible disease and lower the risk factors. Your focus should be on healthy living both mentally and physically.
I hope this helps answer the question. This is all for now. God bless you all!
